Making The Tea

🍵 How to Make Tea for Tea Leaf Readings (Tasseography)

🌿 1. Choose your loose-leaf tea

Pick a loose-leaf black tea (best for clear patterns):

  • Assam 🍃 (strong, bold leaves)

  • Darjeeling 🌸 (lighter, elegant leaves)

  • Ceylon 🍂 (balanced and clean)

👉 Avoid tea bags — they don’t form readable shapes.

🔥 2. Heat your water

  • Bring water just below boiling (around 90–100°C / 195–212°F)
  • Fresh, clean water gives the best clarity and energy

🍵 3. Add the tea leaves

  • 1–2 teaspoons of loose-leaf tea per cup
  • Optional: add intention-enhancing herbs or flowers (like rose or lavender 🌹💜)

⏳ 4. Steep with intention

Let it steep for 3–5 minutes while focusing on the reading:

  • Ask a question silently or set a general intention

  1. Client slowly drinks the tea
  2. Leaves a small amount of liquid at the bottom
  3. Swirls the cup three times counterclockwise 🔄
  4. Turns cup upside down on saucer
  5. Lets it drain for a moment
  6. Flip it back and begin reading symbols ✨

1. 🌿 Leave a small amount in the cup

  • Finish most of the tea
  • Leave a small sip + the leaves at the bottom

2. 🔄 Swirl the cup (intention step)

  • The client holds the cup by the handle
  • Swirls it 3 times counterclockwise (some traditions use clockwise, but counterclockwise is common in intuitive practice)
  • While swirling, they can silently think of a question or simply “open to guidance”

3. 🫖 Flip the cup onto the saucer

  • Place the saucer over the top of the cup
  • Carefully flip the cup upside down onto the saucer
  • Let it rest for a few seconds to a minute

💡 This allows excess liquid to drain while leaving the leaf patterns fixed.

4. 🌙 Lift and reveal

  • Turn the cup right-side up again
  • The leaves will have formed patterns on the inside walls and bottom
