Not Every Friendship Deserves a Reunion

Sometimes you miss someone because they were important to you.

That doesn’t automatically mean they belong in your life again.

Time has a funny way of polishing old memories. You remember the laughing-until-you-couldn’t-breathe nights and conveniently forget the disrespect, exhaustion, one-sided effort or the reason you stopped speaking in the first place.

People absolutely can change.

But history alone isn’t proof that they have.

And nostalgia is not the same thing as compatibility.

Some friendships belonged perfectly to a particular version of you. You grew together for a while, then eventually grew in different directions. That doesn’t make the friendship fake or the ending a failure.

You can appreciate what someone once meant to you without reopening the door.

You can wish them well without inviting them back into your everyday life.

You can forgive someone and still decide you prefer the distance.

Sometimes closure isn’t a beautiful reunion where everyone hugs, apologizes and suddenly understands everything.

Sometimes closure is simply realizing:

I loved you then. I wish you well now. And I’m perfectly happy leaving the story where it ended.
