The Quiet Luxury of Not Telling Everyone Your Business

There is something luxurious about people not knowing what the hell you’re doing.

Not because you’re hiding anything.

Because everything doesn’t require an audience.

We’ve gotten so used to sharing the relationship, the breakup, the new job, the bad day, the healing journey and what we had for lunch that privacy almost feels suspicious now.

But there’s peace in letting things belong to you first.

Not every new idea needs opinions before it has even had the chance to breathe. Not every relationship needs outside commentary. And not every difficult season needs to become public knowledge while you’re still trying to understand it yourself.

Sometimes telling fewer people means hearing your own thoughts more clearly.

It also means discovering who you are when nobody is watching, approving, questioning or applauding.

There’s a certain confidence in making a decision and simply… making it.

Make the move without announcing it.

Fall in love without providing weekly updates.

Work on something quietly.

Change your mind without issuing a press release.

And perhaps most importantly, stop explaining decisions to people who aren’t living with the consequences of them.

Privacy isn’t secrecy.

Sometimes it’s simply deciding that your life doesn’t need a comment section.

A little mystery never ruined anybody.
